Fall '22 Fashion Trends
2022 fashion has been unique to say the least compared to every other decade. Trend cycles are becoming shorter and shorter and this is causing a lot of trends to be ‘trending’ at the same time. With indie sleaze and streetstyle becoming big this year, lots of vintage, recycled styles are coming up fast. This season, we are seeing lots of classic fall pieces like leather and denim. There are a ton of last seasons and last fall’s trends that we will be stable pieces in your wardrobe. In today’s blog post, I will be diving deep into the trends that will be popular this fall.
leather jackets
As per usual, this fall wouldn’t be complete without leather. Leather jackets, specifically bomber and moto style, are a staple this season. I’ve shown a photo of a vintage Yamamoto jacket for inspiration as it highlights the straight-fit moto style jacket with line details. The bomber is a classic and timeless fall piece that will be seen in everyone’s wardrobe. We will seen the bomber worn oversized with skirts and fitted with pants and trousers.
midi/maxi skirts
With the cargo and parachute pants blowing up this past spring and summer season, we will see more of this style in maxi skirts. We will also be seeing lots of denim this fall with maxi and midi skirts and with other heavier materials as well.
cargo/parachute pants
As mentioned before, these styles became widely popular over the summer and will continue to be a staple in your wardrobe for fall. In contrast from summer, we will be seeing darker fall colors instead of white and beige. These will mostly be paired with tighter fitted tops since they are larger stable bottoms.
chunky shoes
A classically fall appropriate staple, chunky shoes and boots, will be on everyone’s feet this season. We’ve seen these almost every season of the year since 2020 and will probably continue to. Brands like Dr. Martens and Unif have the cutest varieties of chunky shoes.
pleated skirts
After fall of last year, Mui Mui debuted the micro mini skirt for their Spring 2022 line. It has had a huge impact on the streetwear style and has inspired many similar pieces. These mini skirts were inspired from office-wear materials and styles. Pleated skirts have been a thing of the fall, making this mini skirt, and others like it, perfect for the fall (while its still on the warmer side).
corded pendant necklaces
Yet another reemerged trend from the ‘90s, these corded pendant necklaces are all the talk throughout this past summer. The trend is still going strong this fall and we will be expecting to see different varieties and colors. Brands like With Jean and Heaven Mayhem have adopted this trend.
blazers
Another timeless fall piece, blazers, will never go out of style. They are easy to thrift and you can find them at mostly any clothing store. This fall we will be seeing them with skirts and a fun top, with trousers, or oversized with baggy pants.
trousers
Another piece in the office/work chic style that can be worn in different ways. Worn casually with a streetstyle look or the more model-esque, professional way. Both looks are definitely in this fall. Trousers can easily be found at the thrift or at any retail store like Dickies or Zara.
long boots
Long boots, or any length or that matter, are a classic fall essential for your closet. Cowboy/western boots have been trending for a few seasons now and will continue to into the fall. Some of my favorite boots are from Jeffrey Campbell, Dr. Martens, and Miista.
